Air Con re-gas cheap places

Hey looking to get my little pulsar's AC regassed because the last 2 weeks have been bullshit in it. Anyone know of any cheap places? I rang up profix for there "profix price" and that was about 150-160, just seeing if I can score a better price.

I would say just ring around some local places and get some quotes and go with that. I think generally they are relatively the same, unless they are heaps dodgey.

They are not allowed to "top up " anymore, it has to be an "evac and recharge". Also, if the receiver drier is oldish (+ 5 yrs, sometimes less), this would also be a charge but they will advise at the time of looking at the car

About 3 weeks ago, a friend at work went to have a cheap air cond re-gas and ended up with a bill of almost $2,000. They replaced the compressor, condensor, receiver/dryer, windscreen. Yes, they replaced the windscreen after it had cracked when they removed the cover between the bonnet and windscreen. His missus took the car in, and they did call her to get approval to replace the parts, but did not give her a price until the car was picked up.
So just look out, get prices before anything extra is replaced, and stay away from those mechanics who paint their workshop a yellow/gold colour.
